Budapest Food Walking Tour

Our food tour was on the Pest side of the river.  We enjoyed this highly rated  tour very much.  Primarily because of our young guide Gergő was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable  and personable.  He even emailed the recipe the pogácsa (cheese scone).  We began in a large market and sampled several types of sausage and pogácsa (cheese scone) followed by walking to a pastry shop a chocolatier and at  Kőleves restaurant with samples at each one.  We ate several samples of carp at one place.  Both Barb and I, to our surprise enjoyed the carp.  We had never considered carp as edible back home.  After much sampling we ended up at a café for liquor sampling and warm friendly conversation.

The tour began at an indoor market that contained a wide variety of shops with pastries, meats, cheeses, and more

Leaving the market we stopped at a restaurant for a sample of two types of carp dishes

For dessert we stopped at another location- Chocolate!

Taking a rest stop for some Hungarian liquor sampling in a popular “in” cafe.

After sausage, cheese, fish, chocolate and liquors we simply had to stop for gulash.
